Karen French

Karen French trained at Central School of Speech & Drama and Royal Holloway University, also completing a Foundation year at Camberwell College of Arts where she immersed herself in a love of drawing and painting. She has worked in theatre, film and television for more than a decade. Notable highlights include ‘Grace’ in the short film Lady of Sorrows (Terence Gross) which won the Best Short Feature award at the Iowa Film Festival in 2010 and was officially selected for the BFI 54th London Film Festival, and ‘Lady Macbeth’ in a theatrical production called What. Macbeth. Where directed by Donnacadh O’Briain. In 2011 she worked with Akram Khan and the Hofesh Schechter Dance Company utilising her acting skills. Karen has danced professionally (mostly street dance – read Hip Hop), and she continues to use those skills in more contemporary dance projects. In 2012, Karen co-produced and acted in a project called PEEP which debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim. The Watcher Self is her first lead role in a feature film.
